A few weeks ago, in a meeting with a senior European official, I heard a sentence that stayed with me.
We were discussing digital regulation, and after a long pause he said, almost reluctantly:
“We don’t fear platforms because of what they publish. We fear them because we don’t control the space in which interpretations form.”
